Come to his current base of operations in New Orleans and one of Expresso limousines will pick you up Tommy Tee President, (He's been in the limousine business since 1977.) When it comes to the music business---or just business in general----Tommy Tee is the epitome of success. "I've been doing it successfully all my life," he explained. "I've never been out of the business. God has truly blessed me. His formula for success is simple:
"I trust in God, I believe in Tommy Tee and have faith in tomorrow," said Tee. "I don't mind giving my respect to God." He’s also quick to point out that he avoided many of the pitfalls that have snared other people in the entertainment business. "I' m not a smoker, I don't chase women, never did mess with drugs and I drink socially at the most, " he said. As president of Mister Tee Records Tommy Tee is enjoying success as a producer and torch keeper of southern soul music. He recently added the popular Carl Marshall to his roster of recording artists that includes Walt Love, James Payne, Lee Brown & The Project Band, Theresa Star, and the recently deceased Big Ike. In his typically upbeat fashion, Tee is expecting great things from his artists. After all, he explains, this is the land of opportunity and all you have to do is work to make it.
"I was born black, broke and hungry and I made it," said Tee who is one of 14 children.
Unfortunately, he explained, too many Americans, both black and white, are passing up opportunities. He said we all should look at the many immigrants who come to this county and end up doing well as a model of how to succeed in America.
"They sacrifice," explained Tee. On the other hand, he said, too many "brother and sisters---I don't mean black and white, I mean men and women" are too concerned about trying to get everything today and won't build for tomorrow and want to always be comfortable in the moment.

"We have mistaken luxury for necessity," explained Tommy Tee In addition to being an entertainment industry powerhouse, Tommy Tee is right there at ground level when it comes to social issues and the development of the nation's human resources. He can speak at length about nearly any issue from petroleum, politics and black economics to the AIDS epidemic and drug problems.
In fact, he's often called upon by corporations to give motivational talks, something he relishes. Tommy Tee said he thinks he's a popular speaker in his neck of the woods because of his honesty and his ability to connect directly with nearly anyone.
"I speak from experience. I speak from the heart. I speak from the mind," he said. "You must respect the truth---you don't have to go along with it, but you have to respect it."
